This page goes with chapter one of “The Insatiable Quest for Beauty” book.

I’m so glad you’re here to join me for coffee! What were your thoughts on the chapter? It’s interesting to think about our quests, asking, “What do I think will make me happy or confident?” I really thought the answer was beauty, but I was so wrong.

So here’s where I give you tons of resources. I’ll take it slow since today’s the first day (I don’t want to be a bad date by throwing too much at you!), but be sure to check out the videos, links, and resources after reading each chapter. I think they’ll be really helpful to making these things real in your own life.

For starters, check out this video – like we’re really having coffee face-to-face! (Or face-to-computer.) In this video, I asked several friends the question: “Have you ever felt insecure?” Check out what these women had to say, and be encouraged in two ways (1) that you’re not alone in the struggle of insecurity, and (2) that there is hope – as some of these women share how they’ve started to find confidence, be encouraged that you can too!

Now here’s that song I told you about during the chapter: “Beautiful” by Bethany Dillon:

Bible Reading: Check out John 4:5-15. There are many places we go to try and satisfy our souls, but there is only one place where we can find living water that truly satisfies the depths of our hearts; only one place where we can drink and never thirst again. All other quests leave us insatiably thirsting for more. Read this beautiful passage to find what Jesus said about living water that quenches our thirst.

What to expect on future coffee dates:

I’ll leave you with these three things for today. But get ready, because pretty soon I’ll be throwing a whole smorgasbord of resources at you! 🙂 It’s like my parents say to dinner guests – after your third visit, you’re family. (Then you can help with the dishes.) Here’s what you can expect to see on future coffee dates:

Deleted Scenes: There are some sections of my book that I love, but I took them out so the book wouldn’t be too long.

Songs: Music was a huge part of my journey. Writing and listening to music empowered me while releasing the emotions trapped inside. For each chapter I’ll include a list of some songs that helped me during that portion of my journey, with links to their youtube videos.

Books: I’ll include a list (again with links) of books that helped me, so you can check them out.

Websites/Videos: When applicable, I’ll share helpful websites and/or videos.

  1. Tiffany, I am halfway through your book and am so impressed and awed by you!! I can identify with all of the feelings you wrote about. I think you are brilliant and you speak to all women- in every age group, culture, race, and spiritual identity. The cleansing tears are just falling from my eyes on this journey..so glad to be a part of this and so proud of you too! your cousin Paula

  2. I love the coffee date feel 🙂 Thanks for being open and honest and bringing attention to the fact that most of us (if not all of us) deal with insecurity in one way or another. We need to know we’re not alone and need to know that we don’t have to stay in that place of insecurity or keep striving for unrealistic perfectionism. I’m excited to hear the rest of your journey!

  3. Tiffany, I am so very grateful that you came to Bryan College Friday and that you took the time to pray with me. Low self esteem has been a huge struggle for me for literally as long as I can remember. I am so excited to continue reading your book. I feel like I need to brace myself because through all of this I really think God is changing my life!
